Recently the Czech Republic has become a popular destination country for many labour migrants. As a result, like that of many other countries, the labour market in the Czech Republic has experienced problems with the marginalization and exclusion of some migrant groups. At the same time, access to the labour market has a strong impact on the level of integration of immigrants who settle in the country permanently and also on the second and later generations of these migrants. The Labour Migration Theme elaborates these questions with a focus on the issues of irregular employment, exploitation and forced labour. Since the arrival, period of stay and the economic activity of migrants are subject to regulation, analyses of new laws and policies and their impact on the behaviour of all stakeholders are also central to the Labour Migration Theme. We consider labour migration in its broad sense including the often overlooked business activities of migrants and the impact of emigration on their countries of origin. Michal Nekorjak (nekorjak(AT)fss.muni.cz) is the coordinator of the theme. |
