Immigrants from selected countries of the former Yugoslavia after 1991: Croats, Serbs, Muslims and Macedonians

The study starts with an overview of migratory flows from the former Yugoslavia to the Czech Republic in the second half of the 20th century. The following part details the social and economic conditions in the countries founded on the ruins of Yugoslavia during the 1990s. The author then delves into the issue of ethnic affiliation of immigrants from the former Yugoslavia. The second half of the study opens with chapters on issues related to integration of the examined groups in the Czech society, including naturalization, business activities, religion and cultural needs. One chapter covers housing issues.

The author returns to the question of ethnicity in a chapter covering the external and internal relations of the examined groups in the Czech Republic. The final part of the study describes the problems that immigrants experience when dealing with the Czech authorities as well as the environment in families of immigrants from the former Yugoslavia. The study ends with a summary covering the integration and acculturation of the examined immigrant groups.
