The article looks for reasons and possible ways out of the dismal situation as regards women trafficking and forced prostitution in the Czech Republic. The text, a report with side commentary, opens with the description of a specific example of cooperation between a criminal organization and a local police station. The report features a number of testimonies by experts, local politicians and police officers on the subject of combating trafficking in human being in the Czech Republic and related developments. The author strives at placing the Czech Republic in a wider context of international women trafficking and presents inspiring examples of how trafficking is punished abroad. The article ends with a different example, namely that of the symbiosis between organized crime and Prague’s municipal budget.
